Dr. Andrea E. Bethel, O.D.
Optometric Physician
Dr. Andrea E. Bethel earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She received her Optometric Doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. While at Southern College of Optometry she took an active role in the student government, serving as Vice President of the Student Government Association and Vice President of her class for two years. Dr. Bethel received the honor of membership into the Golden Key International Optometric Honor Society and served as their Secretary. She also served at the International level as the Secretary.
Dr. Bethel is a member of the American Optometric Association as well a member of New Mexico Optometric Association. She is the current New Mexico Optometric Association Secretary and was Central Area Trustee from May 2009 to May 2011. Dr. Bethel was awarded the 2011 - 2012 Young Optometrist of the Year by the New Mexico Optometric Association as well as was awarded the 2008 - 2009 Optometry in Action Award for outstanding community service by the New Mexico Optometric Association.
Dr. Bethel is currently the Healthy Eyes Healthy People consultant for New Mexico since January 2008. As well as the InfantSee Liaison for the state since October 2007. She was nominated by the Governor as a member of the Department of Health’s Children’s Vision Screening committee in June 2008.
She is a board certified optometric physician with certifications in Medical Therapeutics and Minor Surgical Procedures.
Melisa Martinez, CPO, CPOA, ABOC Melisa is a graduate of St. Pius X High School. She has over 11 years of experience in the optometric field. She has been a member of the American Board of Opticianary since 2001 as a certified Optician. She is also certified by the American Optometric Association as a Paraoptometric Assistant Technician since 2008. Some of Melisa’s experience include working closely with several New Mexico optometrist, of whom several doctors were named Young Optometrist of the Year by the New Mexico Optometric Association. She loves working with people and providing quality service. She continues to participate in continuing education courses to better serve patients with top quality eye care. Melisa enjoys scrap booking, making cards, and spending time with her family. |
Stephany San Nicolas, CPO
Stephany is a graduate of Los Lunas High School. She attended the University of New Mexico for 3 years as a music education major. She started her career in optometry in 2005 as a technician, as well as an optician. Stephany has been certified by the American Optometric Association as a Paraoptometric Technician since 2007. When not at work Stephany enjoys playing saxophone and spending time with her son and family. |
Desiree Garcia Desiree is a graduate of Valley High School. Her hobbies include dancing and spending time with friends and family. She has been in the optometry field for 4 years now and enjoys assisting people with their eye care needs. She plans to continue her education in the optometric field by becoming certified by the American Optometric Association as a Paraoptometric Technician. |
